About LOKO
We call ourselves the Leuven Student Union because we want to be there for every student in Leuven: whether you’re studying at KU Leuven, UCLL or the Lemmens Institute. We ourselves are made up of students who, as volunteers, represent all students in Leuven, organise events or support other students and student societies in their initiatives.
The best way to describe how we operate is to compare it to a parliament, with the key difference being that we do not take any (party) political stances. On the one hand, all student societies meet fortnightly in our General Assembly to adopt representative positions and discuss our initiatives. On the other hand, the LOKO team consists of a number of volunteers, known as representatives, who implement the decisions of the General Assembly. Furthermore, LOKO recognises a number of independent associations. They receive an operating grant via LOKO but are not part of the General Assembly.
Team
The LOKO team consists of a team of enthusiastic volunteers supported by some staff members and student workers.

Student unions and free associations
LOKO supports student unions and free associations in their operations. Below you will find an overview of all student unions and free associations connected to LOKO. A student union consists of students from one or more fields. It represents those students in the General Assembly of LOKO. Free associations are recognized by LOKO and receive an operational subsidy for this. They do not sit in the General Assembly and are, apart from the criteria for recognition, not bound by LOKO.
