Operating subsidy

With the operating subsidy, LOKO aims to contribute to existing costs that circles and recognized free associations must incur in their operations.

Deadlines

The deadline for the application for the full operating subsidy and the commitment application is December 1. Please also note the dates on which the subsidy committee meets.

All applications received between December 1 and May 1 will be limited to half of the total amount. After May 1, no more operating subsidy can be applied for.

Every association recognized by LOKO must submit an application annually via subsidies@loko.be.

How does an operating subsidy work?

To be eligible, the association must be recognized by LOKO. The standard and support recognition is valid for three years for free associations and unlimited for circles, but the application for an operating subsidy must be submitted annually.

Circles and associations do not need to submit a separate application for each operating cost, but one general application at the beginning of the academic year. The association receives a fixed amount for the entire academic year, regardless of the specific costs incurred, which is adjusted to the size of the association and the commitment it chooses.

1. Student unions

For student unions, there is a base amount of €300 for each circle, with an additional vote (on top of the first) at the General Assembly (GA) of LOKO €75 added (i.e. €75 multiplied by the number of votes minus one vote).

When student unions do not fulfill their commitment to the operation of LOKO (participating in the GAs and WVs and being involved in the organization of various activities of LOKO), their operational subsidy may be denied.

2. Recognized free associations

There are two options:

How can you apply for an operational subsidy?

Any association recognized by LOKO can submit an application via subsidies@loko.be.

The association must demonstrate at the end of the academic year by June 15 that it has had an operation this academic year. You do not need to attach the evidence immediately when you submit the application. For the full amount, this must be done by showing publicity and providing accompanying evidence of at least two recognized events. For the half operational subsidy, the evidence is limited to at least 1 recognized event.

! OPGELET: Indien de vereniging op de deadline geen bewijsstukken heeft ingeleverd, kan zij het academiejaar nadien geen aanspraak meer maken on an operational grant. Instead, she can still apply for project grants that will be processed by the grant committee.

Write down the deadline of June 15 so make sure to add it to your calendar!
